witticaster: Several lines of crossed-out poetry and a hand holding a fountain pen, drawn in charcoal & ink. (v)
The return of marginalia! Or, why AR should not be allowed to draw pretty much evar. ^^;;;

My prof in American Writers today mentioned how, in Nam Le's The Boat, he saw a pattern of feelings--or rather, the lack thereof. The characters in the stories we've read have been in situations where allowing themselves to feel anything more than the very surfaces of emotions would just destroy them. They have to live on the surface, or they won't be able to live at all.

And that made me think of the quote scrawled across the top of this, and that got me a-doodling, because my attention span was low due to huuuuunger, and there I was by the end of class, hoping no one was seeing how ridiculously low-quality my geeky creation was. XD

I left part of my notes because I'm just that enamoured of my own handwriting. I'm so self-interested. >>

the dangerous business of feeling )

...Fuck, I miss pretending to be Evey. ^^;; The fact that she did allow herself to feel again, despite the dangers--God, how amazing is that? Really fucking amazing. I still think it's beautiful.

witticaster: (dressed for a funeral)
Title: Umm...N/A
Rating: PG
Summary: Cal and Promise have a short conversation about the latter's birthday.
Author's Note: 1. First time writing posting anything in Cal's voice, and I don't think I've quite gotten either of them, but--well, it was an experiment. 2. Based off that delightful meme response of Pelly's regarding giving Promise Niko's underwear, but it didn't actually get that far (yet--I might come back to it later). 3. Um...kind of repetitive, re: canonical information? But I was trying for Cal's voice, and if there is one thing Cal does, it is think about the same damned things over and over. >> Also, it made it easier to slip into his voice. Also, I think I accidentally stole some phrases wholesale from the novels, but I didn't mean to. ._. Also, I'll stop talking now.

Just about everything you know about vampires is wrong. )

Title: A Journal of the Plague Summer
Rating: G (seriously, why do I even bother with this, it's always G)
Summary: A summer in the Leandros brothers' childhood, complete with unnecessary Old Testament references. ^_- Part one: the getting of places.
Author's Note: I'm still not happy with it, there was supposed to be more to it but I can't focus for more than about 600 word at a time, it requires more fixing and still doesn't feel like it really counts as fanfic to me--take your pick of complaints I've got. >> But those are not interesting and maybe I'll be able to revise the second half of this opening bit while I'm at work tonight. ^^;; In the mean time, as they say in Amazon Trail, here is what I have.

eta: I want to say ne le lire pas or make this private or something, because I just about had a panic attack driving back from the library thinking over this, but that would be cheating. So let me just say that I realize there are some Things In It I Need To Take Care Of, and please forgive them. Consider it a rough draft? >>

Title: ...Untitled? Can I? I don't have anything good for a title. D:
Rating: PG (do I write anything higher? o.O)
Author's Note: Because we all need to do stupid things on occasion. Like write fanfic for 10 Things I Hate About You. >> Set a few years after the end of the film, Patrick/Kat, wtf am I writing this for, et cetera. First part of...probably two? It should be a oneshot, but I'm tired, and if I just save it in Notepad, I'll never finish it. And I kind of want to, weirdly enough.

There is a conciliatory bowl of Spaghetti O's on the table... )

I shouldn't be allowed to think about stuff in the shower. My mind starts to wander. XD

This, for instance, is proof that there are some fandoms that I really shouldn't be attempting fic for. Whatevs.
