That time Archie gets William a dog for his birthday. I need to finish this. DX

"D'you have any plans for the day?" Archie asked, the picture of nonchalance, as he prepared breakfast for the both of them.

"I recall being told not to make any," William answered dryly. "So no, the day's open."

"Good." A plate of scrambled eggs and streaky bacon was set before him, delivered with a kiss. "Happy birthday, William."

"Thanks." William waited until Archie had filled up a plate of his own and sat down before he took a bite, and found the food had been worth the moment of pause. Archie was a reasonably decent cook, and more importantly, could make perfect scrambled eggs. After noting aloud that they were very good, he asked, "What're we doing today, then?"

"S'a surprise," Archie answered from around a mouthful of food, then swallowed and tried again. "You'll know when we get there--we'll need to leave soon, though, appointment's at eleven this morning."

That was all he could get out of Archie on the subject, who was very clearly delighting in sitting there with a coy look on his face and the words surprise, it'll be good on his lips. With a roll of his eyes, William resigned himself to remained entirely in the dark until Archie so chose to illuminate him.

"This is a dog breeder's," William said, and turned to look at Archie with a frown.

Archie put the car in park, shut off the engine, and turned to William. "Yeah. If you don't like any of them, we can look elsewhere, but--"

He had no hope of finishing that sentence yet, not with William kissing him as he was, but he didn't seem too put out by the fact. Several moments later, they drew back, and William said, "Well, let's have a look at them."

AND THEN THEY WENT AND LOOKED AT DOGS.
